Seminarians in Love with Mother Earth
Dear friends,
Herewith an article for valentines day from San Carlos Seminary College that shares their unique way of celebrating Valentines Day. It is also their one way of responding the call to quench the thirst of love of our Mother Earth.
God bless,

Seminarians in Love with Mother Earth
by Seminarian Marcelino RapaylaJr.
It’s that time of the year again when love is in the air and with that, sophomore seminarians from San Carlos Seminary College (SCSC), initiated a unique way of celebrating Valentine’s Day with Mother Earth.
Engr. Ivy Tariman, Seminary Professor, said that this activity is quite unique because it focuses on a unique subject of our affections, our Mother Earth who like any human mother continues to serve and love despite neglect.
During celebration the earth science students (sophomore) will offer their prayers, good wishes, and love notes to our Mother Earth by hanging them in valentine tree.
Like St. Francis of Assisi, heavenly patron of ecology, saw nature as a teaching tool that helped him learn about God. One of the oldest seminarians said that we desperately need time in nature because we are so alienated from her and from
ourselves.
A poem entitled “Mother Earth,” composed by one of the sophomore seminarians, Reymark Gura mentioned in his poem the beautiful things about the earth but he also talks the negative things that happen frequently nowadays. Here some parts of the poem mentioned.
“…Where are the birds and the songs they sing?
Why are rivers dead or dirty and no longer clean?
Why do flooding and landslides, they now become common?
What have we done to this world of our?…”
With this activity, organizers aim to bring everyone’s attention to the way we have neglected our planet and to enjoin everyone to be more circumspect in their actions.
